Stay cool in an ice hotel

There's something strangely romantic about the idea of sleeping in an igloo. Yes, even though it's bound to be a trifle nippy, the thought of curling up for the night in an ice hotel has most of us hooked. I was lucky enough to visit Montreal's brand-new Snow Village and slept soundly in an icy room with snow on the floor and flowers frozen into the walls. Most ice hotels tend to close around the end of March/April, so take a look at these six beauties and start planning a super-cool stay now.

Montreal
Launched this year, this new kid on the icy block is a little different from most other ice hotels as it's the only place in North America to get your urban igloo cool on. The Montreal Snow village is in the heart of the city in Jean Drapeau park, just a few minutes brisk walk away from the metro. Check out the hockey-themed room with its ice statue of a player at the end of the bed, and stadium seats.
